Four for the Price of One: A Madden 10 4-Team Dynasty

Hello!

This dynasty will chronicle my Madden10 dynasty user-controlling 4 teams:

Philadelphia
Chicago
Oakland
Houston

My general idea is to reserve my lengthy newpaper style write-ups for the playoff games I may play. Otherwise, in stretches of the season I will update w/ progress, stats, key injuries, and take a look around the league.

Getting up to Date:

I start this dynasty thread already past Wk 9 in my Madden10 Franchise.

Having posted info on my current dynasty here.

I will also post here, and keep this thread up to date w/ highlights and write-ups suitable to a dynasty thread.

Lets get up to date

Through wk6 I am 5-0 (wk4 BYE). I also created Mike Vick, making him a 74 overall, but have not deployed him yet (to fall in line w/ the suspension currently in place).

I've played every game for the Eagles, and during their BYE played as the Texans beating Oakland in wk 4; this is the only other game I've played for any user-controlled team. My plan is to build on the Raiders and Bears, and perhaps start to play as them after season 1.

For the most realism I can get I traded the Bears #1 for 2009 away to the Broncos for a 7th rd'er; this is to account for what Denver got in return for Cutler.

My next post I plan to get some stats out there from the Eagles and Texans (two teams I've actually played w/ so far), and also post some League Standgins.

Lets get up to date CONT.

Pressing on in my current franchise w/o Favre. Perhaps I start another using a completely different team w/ the update, but it won't be controlling PHI/CHI/OAK/HOU like this franchise it.

Maybe SF or DET...a team I can build-up and/or relocate (NYJ).

So here are my results through wk9:

Wk1 @ Panthers W 48-38
Wk2 Vs Saints W 34-30
Wk3 Vs Chiefs W 21-14
Wk4 BYE
Wk5 Vs Tampa W 41-14
Wk6 @ Oakland W 12-10
Wk7 @ Was. W 38-21
Wk8 Vs Giants W 34-24
Wk9 Vs Dallas W 20-14

So the Eagles are the only undefeated team left in the league sitting at 9-0.

The Tampa Bay game appears like the only blow out, but they had me down 14-0 in the 1st qtr thanks to a 9:00 minute drive capped off by a D.Ward 4 yd TD run. Then on the impending kickoff I fumble, Jermaine Phillips recovers, and runs it in for an 18 yd TD. However, I'd lock them down through 3 qtrs and end up w/ a lopsided victory.

The Skins game was very close. However, two INTs late in the 4th Qtr allowed me to score on one, and setup a short TD drive on the other. Take away those two turnovers, and I have only a FG lead w/ about 5 minutes left in the game.

The Giants game was the same as the Skins as it was late turnovers that did the Giants in. Was very close though up until that point. Brandon Jacobs had a good game for NYG too w/ 20+ carries and a score (held him under 100 yds rushing, but he had 4/5 catches for 40+ yards).

Wk1 DeAngelo Williams gave me fits as he finished w/ a HUGE day: 23/ 235 yds rushing and 2 TDs to go along w/ 5 catches for 53 and a score. Delhomme was inaccurate but Carolina only made one turnover. It basically came down to shutting off their passing game, and stopping the bleeding on the run to win. DeSean Jackson had a big game w/ 6 for 162 and 2 TDs. Most of DeAngelo's lofty rushing total game on 2 or 3 big plays. Other than that he was stopped consistently.

My win vs NO was impressive because I was able to shutdown Marques Colston; holding him to one catch for 18 yards. That one was won w/ consistent pressure on Brees (6 sacks, 2 fumbles), and thanks to 2 missed FGs by kicker Garret Hartley (68 OVR).

McNabb is having a solid season in the top10 in passing with:
88.2 QB Rtg / 2,005 passing yds / 16 TD / 12 INT / 60% Comp.

He's been sacked 19 times, which is in the lower rung of sacks allowed. Josh Freeman and Brady Quinn have been sacked 31 and 28 times respectively which are the highest.

Westbrook is over 1,000 all-purpose yards thru Wk 9:
558 yds rushing / 501 yds receiving. He's scored 8 TDs (6 rushing/2 rec.), and has a 4.3 ypc avg.

Lesean McCoy has gotten 60 carries on the yr and rushed for 228 yds. He's picked it up after only having rushed for 42 yards through wk3; has yet to score though.

DeSean Jackson leads the team in receiving yards w/ 683, and is 2nd in the NFL behind Steve Smith (10) in receiving TDs. He has a 19.5 yds/catch avg, and 10.0 yards after catch avg; he does have 5 drops though.

The WR w/ the 2nd most catches on the Eagles is Jason Avant, who I've been running out of the slot given is CIT rating. He has 25 catches for 299 yds receiving and has 1 TD. It's been hard to get the ball to Kevin Curtis as he has only 10 catches for 165, but he does have two TDs. Maclin has 9 catches for 102 yds, but has only scored on a kickoff return for a TD. TE Brent Celek has 9 catches for 93 yds and 2 TDs, and TE Matt Schobel has caught one ball for a 6yd TD.

Vick has only gotten into one game since I've begun to use him after wk6. It came when McNabb went down w/ an abdominal injury, and he played the rest of the game vs the Giants throwing 2 passes for 10 yards and rushing 5 times for 13 yards. McNabb was injured in the 4th qtr so that is the reason for the low totals.

Offensively I rank 4th in the league. Defensively I rank 22nd. However, I'm 2nd in the league in team sacks (42), one behind GB. I'm 15th in the league in PTS against, and also 2nd in INTS; 5 behind Seattle who has 18.

On the defensive side Juqua Parker (80 Ovr: 74 Spd, 84 Finesse Move) leads the NFL in sacks w/ 14, two ahead of Justin Tuck; he also has 28 tckls and two FFs. His 28 tackles lead the team as well. Brodrick Bunkley is behind him w/ 27, and my MLB Joe Mays is the LB on my team w/ the most tackles w/ 21.

In the secondary Samuel has been great, as I mentioned he's done an outstanding job locking down the opposing team's #1. I just tend to get exploited w/ my weak safeties and LB Corps matchups.

Samuel has 4 INTs, 94 INT yds, and 2 TDs. He has recovered one fumble, and deflected 6 passes. Ellis Hobbs has been great as my nickel back as he has 3 INTs, a TD, FF and FR, to go w/ 5 deflected passes as well.

Sheldon Brown has been solid and has one INT, a sack, 15 tackles, and 2 passes deflected.

That about wraps it up for now...

Next post will include the MVP race, LEAGUE STANDINGS, and more stats/awards nominations.

why in the world would you relocate the Jets? They move into a new building next season.

Does that take place in Madden10? If it's not programmed into the game then that is why I'd relocate them.

Hey JBH! Hows it going? Still doing that Royals 2k9 chise a bit?

I'll be following for sure. I just started a Giants dynasty this morning with the updated rosters. I'm liking my sliders/faster gamespeed so far. What have you been using?

Also relocating the Jets might be a fun idea. LA perhaps?

Wavebird! Hello!

Meh...the Royals...I've been playing w/ the Phillies in my MLB2k9 franchise. Reason being, the Cliff Lee trade for one, and Hamels ratings increased after the first yr. Which made pitching w/ him more realistic. I've got about 6 games left to play to finish season 2, and unlock the "Win 20 games achievement" w/ Cole. KC is still in 1st too, traded Adam Dunn to KC giving WAS Hochevar and Kyle Davies. So they're still in contention, but I got tired of using Greinke since he's not the same pitcher in the game as he is IRL (It's the original Greinke that shipped w/ the game, not the living roster updated one). Phillies all the way, but I don't know when I'll be going back to that game.

But I digress...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been using a custom set of sliders. I used Marino's as a base, and then adjusted for my own challenge. They've been good, and presented a challenging game for me.
If I'm on the sticks tonight I'll post my sliders here.
Eagles Finish the season 12-4:
Wk1 @ Carolina W 48-38
Wk2 Vs NO W 34-30
Wk3 Vs KC W 21-14
Wk4 BYE
Wk5 Vs Tampa W 41-14
Wk6 @ Oakland W 12-10
Wk7 @ Was. W 38-21
Wk8 Vs Giants W 34-24
Wk9 Vs Dallas W 20-14
Wk10 @ San Diego L 17-20
Wk11 @ Chicago W 38-34
Wk12 Vs Was W 21-14
Wk13 @ Atlanta L 13-20
Wk8 @ Giants L 24-64
Wk15 Vs San Fran W 12-3
Wk16 Vs Denver W 34-17
Wk17 @ Dallas L 20-28 (Sat all key starters)
Never lost a home game, and was the only undeafted home team. However, minus the Dallas loss in the seaon finale, where I sat all my key starters:
D.McNabb, J.Peters, T.Herremans, D.Jackson, J.Maclin, A.Samuel, B.Bunkley, T.Cole, & J.Parker.
I won only one road game against a decent opponent (wk1 @ Carolina). Other than that lost a heartbreaker in SD on a FG as time expired, simmed and lost in Atlanta on a horrible offensive game, and played a SNF matchup @ the Meadowlands getting stomped out by New York; it was 21-10 at the half, but the Giants piled on 23 and 20 pts respectively in the 3rd/4th Qtrs.
