The Tomba Minute
"The place to go, If you wanna know"
Sunday, June 27, 2010
I'm sure hoping...

NCAA Football plays a important part in my summer life. Why you'd ask? Because it's the game I always get before I go on my vacations. It's pretty much the last home activity I have before I hit the beach on Thursday after the Tuesday release.

I remember fondly NCAA 2004 on Gamecube! That game was fun as all heck. made my guy (a starting qb) and ran with him on through a season.

The past years on next gen haven't really been all that fun minus maybe 07 with the 60 fps and all as everyone here knows but man after playing this years demo? I've come back to that old 2004 feeling again. A feeling of not caring about animations not caring about framerates JUST PLAYING IT.

The demo shows enough to us that it's going to be good but how good? this years team builder has the potential to really standout with community support(possibly NFL teams again! yay!). And this year dnysty and presentation I can't wait to see play out as your progress(which i hope was considered)

When I come back from vacation I usually get 'prepared" for madden. By 'prepared " I mean FOR disappointment(although last year the game was very decent). This years previews of madden show me one thing and one thing only. REPLAYS and sideline interaction. Two things sorely needed THAT NCAA seems to have prior to madden being released so that a BIG plus.

I'm excited. Not only for all the bikinis I'll see but also for all the fun i'm going to have with NCAA Football 11 for the two days leading up to my vacation!

Why? because theres' always going to be the next truth chaser the next versuz that completely dismantles every replay they can.

When you show people flaws in the game in that way it just completely blows the game out of the water. i wonder what this year will be like?

We would provide accurate rosters, sliders and a brand new attribute edit we never got around to fully implementing.

We would support both PS3 and 360...

I mean why?

My favorite team has a roster of 25. Simple. i want to play a season with them. see if any of em can become the league MVP and if the team can make it into the post season and then possibly maybe the World Series. Fine. But no!

You have minor league rosters that the cpu decides to enter in the game if guys around the league and ON MY TEAM fluctuate...
You'd figure having user control on MY OWN roster would help? Nope, once i fix my guys I'm play a team with a bunch of guys sent up from the minor leagues.

Scenario:
I'm the Angels. They're the yankees. I'm playing with my orginal 25 squad and the yankees are playing with half of what they have in their minor league organization.

I'm all for sim etc. But for these franchise modes not to have the simple option to play with ONE team throughout and also have the mlb play with their starting 25 is nonsense.

franchise modes stink nowadays. i remember it was much simpler back n the day.

Rant over. franchise over too

We've received word that the 2k roster update will be up within the next 48 hrs. We will do the PS3 version of our edit on top of this new update so that it has the version 1.0 edit.

The reasoning for this is that we rather have 2k's versions of created layers so that we have more room on the ps3 version to fully redo rosters.

We feel we will be the ONLY PS3 roster PS3 users will use...

Because of this we are refocusing our edit of the PS3 version to be the definitive version. 360 version will still be updated in the regular two week fashion.

I figure with the write-up(and it's EXTENSIVE) I'm shooting for after midnight sometime Eastern standard April 4th.

Trust me though the PS3 won't fall very much behind this weekend.

The write up will consist of all the editing logic etc.

To kind of put it into perspective, this is what in it;

Rocket arms fixed
Fielding speeds for every position fixed
Base running fixed
Stealing fixed(meaning all the best stealing players are highlighted)
Batters who walk
Pitchers who have signature pitches
Power hitters highlighted
Bunters
Camera angles for both pitcher and batter views that eliminate framerate juggling when ball goes into the feild
Camera angles for both pitcher and batter views that look the best so that player models don't look too thin etc
Some accessories done. Just some gameplay roster first
Based off of 2nd roster release by 2k
Sliders done to work with roster!
Line ups correct
Pitching rotations
Correct Trades etc
No new players added yet. This will happen with next roster update we have which will include batting stances and windups.

And that's pretty much the brunt of it.

This ones been hard to finish due to the fact that once I edit a team I want to go play with that team in their stadium because the gameplays so good with these edits!

Ok...We've been able to have some extended game time with 2k10 and so far so good. attempting to put the special TombaSports spin on this we've been able to fix the fielding issues along with the rocket arm speeds almost entirely. These are all attribute based so this will part of the roster set we put together. Important thing is that we've figured out how to make the fielding better and more realistic. We're also looking at the base-running issues as we feel that many of the runs scored hinge on the mentality 2k put into the base-running logic part of the engine. We are trying to get player strides while running the bases, going for steals etc to look like natural motions instead of the fast 'out the gate" running we see now...

By first providing a site revamp that will archive all of last years game edits and then in the beginning of March have the first set of sliders for MLB 2k10 and MLB 10 The Show which will also have full rosters completed soon after release...

***New updated sliders for NCAA Basketball 2010 and NHL 2k10 now available***

We addressed many of the communities concerns regarding the first versions of sliders for both NCAA basketball 2010 and NHL 2k10.

NCAA basketball 2010 now has a much more realistic pace and scoring mechanic along with improved fatigue and quarter lengths...

NHL 2K10 has been completely redone thanks to time spent with it since the last 2ksports patch. This time focusng on a much more realistic game speed and a proper usage of user VS. cpu controlled AI.

Enjoy and please leave your feedback

***Tomba 2k10 Speed and Dribble Base Edit Now Available for Xbox360***

Gamertag Tombasports360
Roster Name: TOMBA2K10 Speed and Dribble Base Edit
Slider Set Name: TOMBA2K10 Slider Set Version 1.0
PSN Username: TombaSports
Roster: Tomba2k10 Version 1.0
Slider: Tomba2k10 Version 1.0

In order to have a proper edit for Tomba 2K10, we first had to establish a solid foundation for what the edit would base itself on.
As you know TombaSports Edits focus on many real-life aspects to the game of basketball, most notably player movement speeds. These movement speeds are best shown in player walk, jog and run speeds and then translates to the main movement of the players activity on the court in dribbling.

This Tomba 2K10 Base Edit focuses on those two main things first to ensure that both game speed and player speed look and feel right while playing. We here at TombaSports have for the second year in a row been able to accurately display proper animation triggering via a set of sliders and individual player attribute numerics that mimic real-life movement.

Within the base edit are 4 key attribute adjustments to individual players:

1)Ball Handle
2)Off hand dribbling
3)Speed
4)Quickness

More detail in forum thread

These 4 adjustments allow the games animations to be triggered more fluidly and look more realistic. The addition of a specific Tomba 2K10 Slider Set also contributes to the overall feel and look to the base "Speed and Dribble" edit.

Due to the fact that this slider set works specifically with the attribute edit it is necessary that you use the Tomba 2k10 Version 1.0 Roster when playing.

Everything is available via 2KShare under Tomba 2K10 1.0 for both roster and slider content.

As this is a base edit, we want any feedback via the forums. Thank you for you're interest and we hope to hold it throughout the year...

In an effort to fully support the NBA 2K10 community of users, we are working to have Tomba 2K10 available for both PS3 and Xbox 360 at the same time.

Delays have been encountered due to the fact that the PS3 implementation has had many delays. These delays are in part the fault of cross platform conversion from 360.

This issue came up when the PS3 version edit did not work the same as on XBox 360. This caused the Tomba Team to then redo the edit in some areas specifically for PS3 so that PS3 users got the same experience as 360 users...

With this said. It seemed like getting the right base edit was a necessity. This base edit was something that the original Tomba 2k9 first had and then was able to have a final version of.

Last year and this year will be no different as the "Speed and Dribble" base edit will be the first edit associated with Tomba 2K10. It will release at the same time and have all players speed and dribble attributes fully edited, along with a specific set of sliders that go along with this roster edit.

Our plan is to continue working on the PS3 "speed and dribble" edit until later this week and have it release alongside the 360 version base edit. Soon there after Version 2.0 will be started for both and have the rest of what makes Tomba 2K10 a definitive edit.

As you know this is a major undertaking just trying to get a base roster complete for one system let alone two. I have my Tomba Team to thank and all of you for your continued patience in this matter.
